In January 2003 my partner and i purchased our first Utonagan named Mahkahtala Pesik, whom we named Wyot (which by the way means 'One with marked face'). We had fallen in love previously with another Utonagan named Lestat who is pure white and we had full intentions of buying a white Utonagan. However, when we went to view the puppies, this rather
cheeky
little grey puppy came running out fromunder the table andstarted chewing my son's trousers and laces. I was holding a white ball of fur who i wanted to take home there and then but Wyot was soooooo naughty i knew deep down he was the right one for us. I'm so glad we only had enough money to buy one otherwise i think we would have purchased all of them (well maybe 2).
A couple of months later we decided that Wyot needed a friend (3 cats wasn't enough). Another of our friend's Jackie has a Utonagan who was due in season. We went to see Jackie and it was agreed that when Taz gave birth we could have a puppy. When Taz went into labour we were next door visiting her sister Lesley (Lestat's owner). We chose our second Utonagan
when she was
about 3 minutes old. Jackie named her
Talamasca Prytania,
we named her Akema.
Wyot and Akema had a successful mating in February 2005 and Akema gave birth to 11 puppies in April.
Both my partner and i were devastated when the puppies were going to their new homes, we decided not to breed from Akema again.
